Hazelgrove School - 20th June
Devon arrived at Hazelgrove on yet another beautiful day. Somerset won the toss and elected to bat, looking to put runs on the board on this great wicket. Somerset got off to a great start taking 20 off the first two overs. However Devon came fighting back with some fantastic fielding, lead by Jack Lockwood and disciplined bowling. At one stage Somerset were 68 for 1 off 15 over’s so Devon did a great job keeping the home side to 153 off their 40. Alex Hannam was the pick of the bowlers with 2 for 19 and he was well supported by Harvey Sargent 1 for 17 and Will Christophers 1 for 15.
Devon Got off to a fantastic start with openers Harvey Sargent 46 and Noah Wright 13 putting on 50 for the first wicket in good time. Both played strong shots through the V, and dominated the Somerset attack. Then came a small bump in the Devon innings when 3 of the Devon top 6 got run out! However Harry Ward (18*) held things together to knock off the 153 posted by Somerset.
